Elevate Your Fall Getaway
Come September the temperatures start to drop and the leaves begin to change color, beckoning you to come outside and explore. Here in the Western North Carolina Mountains, the fall foliage, crisp mountain air and stunning views are a feast for the senses and the soul.
This fall, get in touch with nature by rising to the challenge of High Hampton Inn’s many mountain hiking trails. Hikers of all skill levels have plenty of trails to choose from within our property’s 1,400-acre estate.
As any true mountain lover knows, a bird’s eye view is the best kind of view. Hikers who make the trek to the 4,618-foot peak of Chimney Top Mountain will be rewarded by stunning, near 360-degree views that soar even higher than the birds.
If the four-hour round-trip hike up and down Chimney Top isn’t enough, guests can stop by High Hampton Inn’s front desk for information on any of the property’s eight well-marked hiking trails. For a shorter trek, hikers can make the two-hour trip to the top of Rock Mountain for excellent westward views. For a more up-close experience with the property, guests can wander the one-and-a-half-mile Lake Trail which follows the edge of High Hampton’s privately owned, 35-acre Hampton Lake.
Guests can venture out on their own or join one of High Hampton Inn’s guides for a group excursion. Staff members will even prepare sack lunches to take on hikes so you can dine al fresco with a spectacular view.
At the end of the day, you can unlace your hiking boots and warm up by the grand four-sided fireplace in the inn or enjoy a glass of wine from the Rock Mountain Tavern on our outdoor patio overlooking the scenic North Carolina Mountains.
No matter what path you choose, it is easy to elevate your stay at High Hampton!
