Four Reasons to Celebrate the Fourth of July at High Hampton Inn

July 1st, 2016 by Staff

We have become famous for our festive house parties over the years, and our Fourth of July celebration is the biggest of them all! Here are four reasons to celebrate our nation’s birthday at one of America’s historic inns!

July 4th Picnic

1. Feast

Barbecue, watermelon, s’mores, oh my!

In classic, High Hampton Inn style, our lawn will be transformed into an outdoor picnic complete with a patriotic feast. Our chefs will prepare Southern-style ribs, watermelon, mac & cheese and more. Finish your feast by roasting marshmallows around the bonfire — the perfect recipe for a classic all-American summer barbecue!

2. Festivities

Family-Friendly fun and entertainment!

Our guests know there is never a lack of activities available at High Hampton Inn, and our Fourth of July picnic is no exception. While the sun is out, take a splash in Hampton Lake with private docks and non-motorized boats, the lake is a summer staple for all of our guests. As the sun sets, dance to live entertainment, challenge your family and friends to lawn games and relax surrounded by the serene mountains.

3. Freedom From Responsibilities

Let freedom ring!

At High Hampton Inn, we recognize that life can be stressful. Our resort is tucked away 1,400 acres back in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, making it is easy to get lost in the beauty and wonder of nature. This summer, families looking for a respite from the everyday will find solace in the tranquility of the Resort. You can be free from your busy schedule and spend the weekend relaxing among friends and family.

4. Family History

A celebration at High Hampton Inn is a celebration of American history.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Inn’s doors have been open to guests since 1922. Over the years, High Hampton Inn has undergone updates and renovations, all while still retaining the classic Southern charm guests have come to love. Adding to the High Hampton Inn legacy, the Inn was also selected as a filming location for the upcoming Dirty Dancing remake. With its rich American history, join us at High Hampton Inn to celebrate our nation’s birthday.

Celebrate Summer at High Hampton Inn

June 15th, 2016 by Staff

Have you ever had such a great day you never wanted it to end? Here at High Hampton Inn, guests often say their days here never seem long enough. On June 20th, guests don’t have to worry about the day ending too soon. To celebrate the Summer Solstice, the official start of summer and longest day of the year, High Hampton Inn is throwing one of our famous house parties!

House party Picnic

Civilizations have been honoring the beginning of the summer for centuries, and what better way is there to commemorate the occasion than with an outdoor party in our beautiful mountain setting? High Hampton originally celebrated the Summer Solstice House Party more than 50 years ago. This year marks the fourth anniversary of this tradition in its recent incarnation, with even more food, fun and festivities! A full picnic-style dinner will be served on the lawn featuring chef’s Southern-style ribs, pork, potato salad, mac & cheese and more for all the necessities for a proper summer feast.

Setting the stage for the summer soiree, our favorite band, Chuck Courtney, will play beach music favorites alongside a dance floor to give party-goers the chance to sway or shag along to their favorite summertime tunes. What summer beach party would be complete without a bonfire? Gather round the fire as the sun sets behind Rock Mountain, and who knows, we might have a marshmallow or two available for roasting! Keeping with a southern tradition, guests are encouraged to wear their summer whites to honor this special occasion!

Summer at High Hampton is full of traditions that will have everyone working up an appetite before the party starts. With a 1,400-acre backyard, hike to the top of Chimney Top or Rock Mountain, or for a more leisurely pace, explore the trail that winds around Hampton Lake.

Speaking of Hampton Lake, this 35-acre lake is the perfect place to cool off with paddle boats, kayaks and canoes, or sit back and cast a line for brim and trout. We have a lot more deck space constructed for the filming of the highly anticipated Dirty Dancing remake so there is plenty of room to relax.

Our special children’s programs keep kids entertained all day with donkey-cart rides, arts and crafts, nature walks, picnics, sporting and recreational programs. Best of all, our mountain elevation keeps temperatures generally 17 degrees cooler than the lower lying cities, making for the perfect summer destination!
